Whether grooming President Obama for the cover of GQ or getting Jennifer Hudson red carpet ready, Tia Dantzler is the go-to girl to get your face beat.
JUICY: Which celebrities have you worked with?
DANTZLER: I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with an elite group of people including, President Barack Obama, Jennifer Hudson, Maxwell, Magic Johnson, Jurnee Smollett and Keke Palmer, to name a few.
How do you describe your signature look?
DANTZLER: I’m known for creating a flawless, fresh face and perfectly sculpted eyebrows, which does wonders
for framing the face. Blending is the key to a seamless application.
JUICY: What are your favorite must-have items that you prefer to use on clients?
DANTZLER: Some of my go-to items are Bobbi Brown’s cream gel liner in Black Ink, Tarte eyelash curler, DiorShow Mascara and Dior lip glosses are staples in my kit.
JUICY: Talk to us about trends. What are the big color combos for lips and lids this spring?
DANTZLER: Women will be rocking bold eyes and bold lips, which in my opinion is a hit. Some of the colors you’ll see on eyes are lilac, blue, green, pink and glittery gold. On the lips you’ll see bold red, bright orange and hot pink. For a subtle daytime look, wearing softer eye shadow colors with a coat of mascara willkeep it simple, yet still fab.
JUICY: What’s your advice for aspiring makeup artists?
DANTZLER: My advice would be to study your field and find a way to practice either on friends or on yourself. Working behind the counter was definitely a great experience for me, and so was attending a makeup school. Starting out, work for the experience and the money will come later. Having a great attitude coupled with great skills will take you far in your career. —LINDA RIPOLL
