Q&A: Celebrity Makeup Artist Sam Fine!!!

Armed with nearly two decades of experience, makeup artist SAM FINE is the celebrities go-to guy.

The makeup up mogul to stars like IMAN and JENNIFER HUDSON caught up with Juicy to share his expertise.

JUICY: Who are your fave celeb clients?

SAM FINE: When I think about my client list, the women that come to mine are QUEEN LATIFAH, VANESSA WILLIAMS and IMAN because I know them best. I’ve worked with VANESSA WILLIAMS for 18 years and I’ve worked with IMAN and LATIFAH for over a decade. I look at wonderful relationships and their multi-dimensional careers-we get an opportunity to do wonderful editorial, cosmetic ads and red carpet appearances.

JUICY: Out of all of them, what is your favorite technique for QUEEN LATIFAH?

SF: Nobody switches it up like QUEEN LATIFAH. I really like to lay with her skin and she loves bronzer, and I use that on the outer perimeter of her face to add warmth, richness and dimension to the skin so it never looks flat, never looks fake, always looks rich.

JUICY: What made you create the groundbreaking instructional DVD Fine: The Basics of Beauty?

SF: I began a conversation with women of color 12 years ago when I released my first book Fine Beauty (Riverhead). After doing so many tours and speaking engagements, I realized no matter how much you write about it, or show photos of it, its never going to sink in as much as it will if they watch it happen.

JUICY: What are your top fall beauty trends?

SF: Now is the time for a forest green or eggplant eyeshadow. For fall we’re seeing suedes, leather and fur, and color is a wonderful complement to these rich textures.
