Want close-set eyes to appear farther apart?
Instead of focusing on your lids, you will want to emphasize the outer edges of your eyes to make eyes appear farther away. Use liquid eyeliner and extend pass your outer eye - the thicker you extend it at the end, the better. Like small eyes, thin eyebrows can maximize the space around your eyes. You can even use a brow pencil to fill the edges of eyebrows out to give a longer appearance.

Prominent/Big Eyes
These eye types tend to be wide. They get away with using dark shades to make eyes appear appear smaller. Eyeliner under the eyes instead of over top is great technique to give these eyes a less prominent look. As a rule of thumb, light shades and thinner eyebrows tend to make them appear even bigger. However, if you are going for an over the top look, use eyelash extensions.

Small Eyes That Won't Pop?
Dark shades will bury your eyes and make them appear even smaller. Go for light to medium shades to widen up your eye. If you want to use darker shades make sure to apply them to the crease of your eye only and then use a blending technique. Use liquid eyeliner to widen up those eyes. Women with these type of eyes can get away with thinner eyebrows to open up space and make eyes appear bigger.

For these eye types, well maintained, yet thicker eyebrows tend to work with making eyes look less farther apart. In this case, go easy on extending your eyebrows or eyeliner.

There are so many people out there who don’t know the simple tricks like this to get the most out of their makeup. I think that there are plenty of great looking women out there who simply don’t know how to do their make up for their own facial structure and it ends up doing more damage than helping them.

I agree with Luke, he knows his stuff. It’s refreshing to hear a guys perspective on makeup. I have a lot of girlfriends who are really beautiful but don’t know what they are doing with their makeup. If they would just check out some tutorials about how to extenuate their natural features, then I’m sure they would see the error of their ways.

My wife is always talking about her makeup when I am home. I wonder what would happen if I decided to hide all of it from her. That would be a great April Fool’s Day joke! I will have to remember that for next year. http://www.goodmaneyecenter.com/

I am all for trying new techniques, I just don’t always get the results I am looking for. It amazes me what makeup artists are able to do with celebrity’s to make them even more beautiful. Not every look is a winner, But I do love a bold look.

I agree, make-up artists don’t get nearly enough credit. They can change the way people look completely, with nothing but brushes and powder. I didn’t know there were different tricks depending on eye type, but it makes sense. It’s nice that I don’t have to deal with that; I can enjoy it instead.
