Then And Now: Cree Summer

Remember the cute, but quirky afro centric Freddie Brooks?

Cree Summer, most recognized for joining the A Different World cast in 1988 as the free-spirited Freddie Brooks.  However, before landing a starring role Cree was born in California in 1967, she was known then simply as the little girl with the funny voice.  Her voice worked in her favor in 1983, we she auditioned for the voice role for Penny  in Inspector Gadget, instantly becoming recognizable. After doing years of voice-over work, it was her role on Different World that finally put her face to the forefront. After six seasons on a Diffrent World, Summer ventured to music and in 1993 created the band Subject To Change,  and in 1999 left as a solo artist releasing the unsuccessful project Street Faërie.

Today, Cree Summer is mainly known for her voice work on more than 70 shows and cartoons, and is currently in post-production for the film Strange Frame: Love and Sax.

Did Cree make a come up, or fall off?
