Her name is BRIDGET KELLY and she’s Roc Nation’s newest R&B songstress. Describing her music as a fusion of R&B, soul, and rock with influences from ALICIA KEYS, ALANIS MORISSETTE, and PINK – Bridget is the new artist you need to know.
Signed by the ‘hottest rapper in the game’ Mr. SHAWN CARTER, Bridget just released her first EP ‘Every Girl,’ and Juicy caught up with her working with the Jigga Man, getting signed, and what makes her Juicy. – TIANNA ROBINSON
JUICY: When you got that call that you were signed to Roc Nation, how did you react?
BRIDGET KELLY: It was a feeling, I can’t describe, like all of my hardwork was paying off, and being from NY and having the opportunity to work for Jay, was even more amazing. I felt like I was on another planet, lol. I called my mom immediately and she brought me down to earth, saying, ‘that’s nice, but how much are they gonna pay you?!
JUICY: Your new EP is titled ‘Every Girl’. What inspired this title and what inspires the your music?
BK: The title Every Girl is because I feel like I’m singing the emotions that every girl feels in a relationship…The ups & downs, happy and sad times. My music comes from a place of raw emotion. If I don’t feel it, I can’t sing it.
JUICY: How is it having Jay-Z as your ‘boss’?
BK: It’s amazing, he’s so smart and knowledgeable, like a teacher and I’m like a sponge with him, trying to soak everything up and learn as much as possible. I don’t even look at him as my boss anymore, more so a brother, a mentor even.
JUICY: Interesting…Where do you see your career in 10 years?
BK:I want it ALL!! I want about 5 successful albums! I want to act, not just any type of roles though, I would love to do voiceovers for Pixar type films or voiceover for cartoons. I would be that fun quirky character. I want to invest, travel and most importantly give to the less fortunate.
JUICY: What makes you “Juicy?”
BK: I’m very outgoing, I don’t take myself seriously and I lovvvvve to have fun. I’m opinionated, stubborn and an extremist, with me it’s either all or nothing. As an artist, I’m passionate and aggressive and I don’t take no for an answer.
