Letter From The Editor

Break out the Champagne ’cause we’re celebrating three years of Juicy in print! Here’s to you Juicy readers!

Cheers to you Juicy advertisers, freelancers and interns. Many thank yous Team Juicy: TAIIA, SHIREA, KWELI, ROCHELLE and MELISSA! I appreciate you collectively and individually. Team work makes the dream work.

And while we’re toasting, let’s give it up to all of the great moms taking care of home and still fly (that’s a good look). Happy Mother’s Day!

Salute to Momshells, BEYONCE, J.LO, J-HUD and more. In celebration, we’ve got some rich dark chocolate for you, this month’s Juiciest, KEVIN MCCALL. Shout out to LORE’L and LIL SCRAPPY for revealing whether sharing your password is a sign of trust or doubt. Hmm.

Pour it up for Living Single, it’s their 20-year anniversary. Special thanks to KIM COLES and TC CARSON.

Raise your glasses for life. Make the most of it. Be well and keep it Juicy.

March/April 2013 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

Here at Juicy, we love talking about relationships—real, alleged, celebs and civilians alike. So when we had to rank the Juiciest couples for the second year in a row, we had more fun than a little bit.

Not all of my personal faves made the list, but I dig the ones that did, like newcomers (KEYSHIA COLE and DANIEL GIBSON) and repeat offenders (BEYONCE and JAY-Z).

And while I appreciate all of our advertisers (they keep this machine running), it broke my heart to lose two pages from our  “This Love is Unbreakable” story, featuring the most memorable on-screen couples (shout-out to Weezy and George Jefferson, and Florida and James Evans… damn, damn, damn).

Speaking of unbreakable, check out what RHOH’s BORIS KODJOEMary Mary’s TINACAMPBELLRHOA’s APOLLO and LHHA’s JOE BUDDEN shared about their relationships.

But don’t spend so much time fawning over theirs that you neglect your own. Be well and keep it Juicy!

December 2012/January 2013 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

It’s such a cliché to even ask, but where did the year go? 2012 was great! Cover girl NENE LEAKES parlayed her reality TV fame into major network roles and checks. Baby BLUE was born, her dad JAY-Z opened and sold out the Barclays Center and Awkward Black Girl creator ISSA RAE inked a deal with ABC. Keep reading for more winners and high notes.

But even in the best of times, we suffered losses like WHITNEY HOUSTON and CHRIS LIGHTY. It’s the circle of life, right? And like my mom would remind me, life is for the living, so let’s live it and celebrate it! Like NICOLE ARI PARKER who spills her beauty secrets, and TONY ROCK who admits that his brother is his favorite comedian.

Speaking of funny men, we talk to CHARLIE MURPHY about the 10-year anniversary of Chappelle’s Show. And this right here, is the 20th issue of Juicy! So, yeah, the year’s been good and I thank God and you for that. Hope yours has been too. Be well and keep it Juicy!

November 2012 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

I don’t need a holiday to express my gratitude. I give thanks every day, throughout the day (hope you do, too). But a sista loves what the holidays bring: a gathering of food, family and friends!

Speaking of getting together, special thank yous to T.I. and TINY for personifying southern hospitality. Mrs. Tameka Harris is indeed the happy wife living the happy life. ANTM alum EVA MARCILLE knows a thing or two about good living and great skin. She spills her beauty secrets in this issue.

KEKE PALMER stopped by our office to show off her new blonde ’do and reveal what her tattoo says. VIVICA A. FOX shares how much she enjoyed kissing BORIS KODJOE. BET’s Don’t Sleep! host, TJ HOLMES, says he has a thing for bougie women, and the rapper THE GAME and his wife-to-be admit that arguing in public isn’t their thing. It’s the holiday season! I’m grateful for that and more. Be well and keep it Juicy!

October 2012 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

This issue ain’t for everybody, only the beautiful people! And if you’re reading Juicy, well, you’re gorgeous to me. This list of aesthetically pleasing celebs was hard to narrow down, but the ultimate girl on fire is none other than ALICIA KEYS. While the usual suspects like BEYONCE, NIA LONG, BORIS KODJOE and T.I. make the list, we’ve also included new faces like LHHATL’s ARIANE DAVIS and indie film actress EMAYATZY CORINEALDI.

Wanna know when BIG SEAN feels sexy? It’s too risqué for print, but we have the best compliment he’s received along with replies from MICHAEL EALY and MECHAD BROOKS. Also, check out our convos with Basketball Wives: L.A. stars LAURA GOVAN and DRAYA MICHELE.

Oh, and we have our first annual Beauty Awards! We polled our fave makeup artists, salon owners and beauty bloggers. The most beautifullest thing in this world? Waking up to a brand new day. Be well and keep it Juicy!

September 2012 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

Three times is definitely the Juicy charm! LALA ANTHONY returns for her third cover and this time we shot her at her West Coast castle. Once our photographers and the VH1 camera crew left, La changed into a fuzzy pink (yet somehow still sexy) robe, plopped down on her couch and talked fashion with me.

A very special shout-out to her son, KIYAN ANTHONY, for being so patient and remarkably understanding as I monopolized his mom’s time. Speaking of fashion, we added more Style pages to this issue! Also, TAMAR BRAXTON dishes on her new show. Plus, we rounded up the sexiest single ladies in the biz:  ADRIENNE BAILON, JULISSA BERMUDEZ, DAWN RICHARD, K. MICHELLE and DENYCE LAWTON. Check out which singlista said, “you just can’t give your hot pocket away.”

Speaking of hot, summer’s not officially over. Enjoy the rest of it while you’re prepping your fall wardrobe. Be well and keep it Juicy!

August 2012 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

The ‘it’ factor is so hard to explain, but you damn sure know ‘it’ and feel ‘it’ when you see ‘it’ struttin’ across a room. Gabrielle Union tops Juicy’s first annual “It Girls” list. Gabby, our beauty with the baller, has now, along with Pop Diva Rihanna, Rap Star Nicki Minaj and Boss Chick Queen Latifah. While Angela Simmons has next, along with Azealia Banks, Rita Ora and Kandi Burruss.

Speaking of next, newcomer to VH1’s Single Ladies, Michelle Van Der Water admits that she’s less of a beauty brand whore than her character. While castmate LisaRaye says that accepting money for sex is, um, “the American way.” Our Juiciest, R&B singer Luke James ’fesses up to having a thing for “crazy girls.”

Romeo Miller admits he’s super protective of his sister. And both Coby Bell and Reagan Gomez-Preston believe in keeping it sexy at home.

Enjoy the rest of this sexy summer! Be well and keep it Juicy!

Peace, Love & Beauty,

July 2012 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

It’s get it right, get it tight season. Truth be  told, we should focus on having fit and (hot) bodies year round. But hey, as the weather gets warmer, we reveal more skin. Need inspiration? We’ve got the scoop on how our cover girl CHRISTINA MILLIAN kept the baby weight off and how BEYONCE and MEL B snapped back so quickly.

At Juicy, we don’t judge those who turn to surgery for help. Shout out to KANDI BURRUSS for being so candid about having liposuction. Can’t say the same about TERRANCE J. He wouldn’t confirm his relationship with SELITA EBANKS, but like DONNELL JONES, we know what’s up. Still need motivation? Check out what our Juiciest CHRISTIAN KEYES can do with his hands (hint: he’s certified to use ’em).

Oh, and congrats to the incomparable photographer JOHNNY NUNEZ on 15 years in the biz! We’re celebrating with him. Summer’s almost here. Celebrate that! Be well and keep it Juicy!

December 2011/January 2012 Issue

Letter From The Editor

At Juicy we pray for no one’s downfall, but some of our celeb faves like T.I., RAY-J and FANTASIA made head-scratching decisions this past year worth noting in our 2011 Biggest Winners & Losers. On the flipside, RIHANNA, CHRIS BROWN and NICKI MINAJ accomplished feats worth celebrating. So we toast to them and RHOA star KANDI BURRUSS who stopped by the office to drop off some delectable Bedroom Kandi treats just in time for snuggle season.

TYRA BANKS shares that she doesn’t want her future daughter modeling. TRACEE ELLIS ROSS talks family. The BRAXTON sisters—TRINA, TRACI, TOWANDA and fan fave TAMAR— discuss life post reality TV. And the ladies of Love & Hip HopEMILY, OLIVIA, SOMAYA, and newcomers KIMBELLA and YANDY—spilling a couple of show secrets. Unfortunately, CHRISSY canceled her interview post JIM JONES’ assault. Plus RIHANNA’s mix-tress, URSULA STEPHEN gives us a how-to guide to some of the singer’s hottest styles.

I’m blessed to see not just another issue, but another year. Special, special thank yous to my Juicy fam—Taiia, Melissa, Shirea, Kweli, Rochelle (miss you Becks!) for making this thing right here possible. Happy Holidays! Be well and keep it Juicy!

November 2011 Issue!!!

Letter From The Editor

Unbreakable. That’s how I like to think of my favorite couples, both familial and celebrity. Six years ago, ALICA KEYS  sang in her song “Unbreakable”: ‘we could act out like Will and Jada.’ And we still can. Listen, no relationship, not even the best of ‘em is problem free, so I’m rooting for Mr. & Mrs. Smith to come out stronger than ever with love on top like BEYONCE and JAY. Read about both power couples in this issue.

And while you’re flipping pages, check out what MALCOLM JAMAL-WARNER  says about his lady REGINA KING in The Notebook and what our Juiciest, actor MICHAEL B. JORDAN finds sexy. Speaking of, TREY SONGZ gives us more than a minute. Funny man AFFION CROCKETT reveals he hasn’t seen NICK CANNON  since the twins were born. Oh, and CORY HARDRICT  and JOYFUL DRAKE share their feelings on “open” marriages. Before you put the mag down, please read our 15-year anniversary celebration on BASQUIAT (the film).

Though SWIZZ BEATS declined to speak to us, he’s a bit responsible for the artists’ resurgence and we pay homage. Still got ALICIA in my head… ‘We gotta stay tuned ‘cause there’s more to see. (Unbreakable) Through the technical difficulties. (Unbreakable) We might have to take a break, but ya’ll know we’ll be back next week. I’m singing this love is unbreakable.’ Love conquers all, right? Keep it Juicy.
