On August 20, TV One premiered Season 2 of their highly anticipated performance series, Verses & Flow.
Hosted by actor OMARI HARDWICK, Verses & Flow showcases some of today’s best spoken word artists and musicians. Through highlighting performances in poetry and music, the show touches on various social, political, and cultural themes.
In the premiere episode, R&B crooner LUKE JAMES and singer MACY GRAY rocked the stage at LA’s historical Belasco Theater.
CHRISETTE MICHELE, TAMIA, MUSIQ and ERIC BENET, all will appear on later episodes.

TREY SONGZ debuts his third single, “Hail Mary,” featuring hip hop heavyweights YOUNG JEEZY and LIL WAYNE.
Produced by Maestro, the single is taken from his upcoming album Chapter V, and follows the hugely successful singles “Heart Attack” and “2 Reasons.”
Chapter V Serves as his fifth studio album due for release August 21.

Now, the mega producer has signed fellow Atlanta natives YING YANG TWINS to So So Def with a new single, “Fist Pump, Jump Jump.”
The pop flavored club anthem was produced by RED ONE, ALEX P, and IKE DIRTY who have all worked with artists like RIHANNA and NICKI MINAJ.
DUPRI has a history with dance tunes, but he insists that the new YING YANG TWINS track is not like the rest.
“Songs like ‘Fist Pump’ are where the clubs are at right now,” the music mogul said about the track.

ANITA BAKER performed at RUSSELL SIMMONS‘ Art For Life benefit in East Hampton over the weekend, and from the looks of things, Miss BAKER still has it it.
The legendary singer was a special guest performer at the star studded event hosted by SOLEDAD O’BRIAN.
The benefit was flooded with celebrity guest who enjoyed BAKER’s performance including STAR JONES, REV RUN, ANGELA SIMMONS and MC LYTE.
Honorees included NICK CANNON, MARIAH CAREY, GRANT HILL and TAMIA for their career achievements and philanthropic work.
BAKER’s latest single “Lately” will be released on August 7th from her upcoming album Only Forever which is set to be released on September 25.

Looks like R. KELLY is back and feeling much better.
Last month, the R&B star cancelled his promotional tour in New York City because he became unexpectedly ill, but Monday night, he seemed to be in perfect health.
The R&B vet hit the stage at Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to perform his new single “Feelin’ Single” from his newest album Write Me Back.
KELLY isn’t the only one ‘Feelin’ Single,’ his ex-wife ANDREA KELLY is enjoying the single life as well on her VH1 reality show Hollywood Exes.

A year after the untimely death of singer, AMY WINEHOUSE, we celebrate the life and beautiful music made by the troubled songstress.
At only 27-years-old, WINEHOUSE released two albums and won 5 Grammy awards for her musical efforts, that will not be overshadowed by the personal demons got the best of her and unfortunately claimed her life just as she was reaching the success her music deserved.
While the life of this talented yet troubled singer ended so quickly, her music will forever be an example of the greatness that can come from adversity.
