With the holiday season in full swing, we’re sure you’re ready to put a little extra effort into your hair routine.
Thankfully, we were invited to an exclusive event all about holiday hair by our besties over at Phyto. Master Phyto stylist Ron Williams and the rest of the Phyto Education team were on hand at Atlanta’s Smooth Salon in Midtown where they shared great holiday hair tips and tricks.
Williams says one of the keys things to remember this holiday season is to have some fun.
“This season’s looks for holiday hair are faux formal hairstyles; high style in no time. Side swept chignons with jeweled hair clips or pins. This works for all lengths and textures. Headbands are big this season for short hair. Simply tousle a daytime look, then add a headband and wow! Side braids (either left or right) are also hot. Finish with side knot and add jeweled hairpins. This is also a great option for natural or hair extensions.”
Whether you’re heading to the office party or meeting up with your girls for Christmas cocktails, try a few of these festive looks mentioned, and get ready to turn heads!
There used to be a time when nails was seen as an inconsequential aspect of beauty. There were a few basic shades, basic manicures, and the idea of a “nail trend” was barely existent.
While nail game has come a long way, nail trends have gone even further. One of the newest trends to hit the scene is ombre nails. Ombre nails are a fun, fashion-forward and very wearable nail trend.
Our expert friends at BlackMarketMag.com says there are two ways in which one can do this trend.
The easiest way to start rocking the ombre nail trend, is picking a color and using each nail to showcase a different shade or hue of that color. For example, if you wanted try this method with purple, you would paint each nail a different shade of purple, starting with maybe a lilac, until you get to dark jeweled purple on your last nail. . You can work the ombre effect from right to left or left to right but either way, it’s a way to give nail color variety.
For those looking for the real wow factor, should try the second way, called the “gradation effect” shown in the photo. This method each nail is painted with layered nail shades.
Usually you begin with the lightest shade, and eventually work your way to the darkest color, blending edges of each color as you continue to add. This way is bit more difficult to do, but the results and response you get from a gradient ombre manicure are worth the difficulty.
